Project 365 - Day 37

I found this old projector lamp in an abandoned factory I was exploring on an urbex trip. I had a great time in this factory though it was almost empty. In one of the halls, this lamp stood on the ground against a big rusted metal door. The texture and the colours of this door were marvellous, as you can see in the background of this shot.

Project 365 - Day 19

Sometimes when you wake up, you get a nice surprise. For Day 19 of my 365 project, I had this great surprise. I looked outside by my window and saw a wonderful dawn. In the back of my garden, I can see an electric pillar. Lots of people think it's a pity I've got one of these just behind my garden, but personally, I like them. I think they're very graphic. I guess it's just a question of point of view. Anyway, I tried to get an interesting composition using the shape of the pillar and the colours of ths sky.

Project 365 - Day 3

Well, here's my picture for today. A house is being built next to mine, so I took the opportunity to shoot the crane from my garden. The sun was setting down, so the sky's quite dark but it's not the night yet. I tried to use the crane as a geometric divider for my picture.

Bärenquell Brauerei

This is an abandoned brewery somewhere in Germany. I recently went for an urbex trip in Germany with a friend. We visited this breewery on our first day. The site is really huge, with lots of building. It's been heavily vandalized, but one can still see the beauty of this place. Some parts of the buildings have been burnt. We've been lucky with the light that day, it was a good beginning for our trip !

Usine Comet

Abandoned factory somewhere in Belgium. I think that this factory was producing beer kegs, at least that's what I found on the internet, but I'm not really sure about it. It was a big factory, and some of the buildings have already been demolished. I met three officials there, while exploring the place, and they told me the site was being cleaned because it was heavily polluted, but I don't know if it will totally demolished or if it will be partially rehabilitated.

Full set on my urbex photography website, as usual !

Triage-Lavoir P.

Abandoned coal washing facility somewhere in Belgium. This place closed its doors in 1977. Rehabilitating works began in 2005, which can be seen by the thousands of new windows that were put in place. For an unknown reason, the works have been stopped, and now the place is still left to rot waiting to retrieve its past glory. This building is a real maze with lots of stairs everywhere.

Tannerie Schotte

Abandoned tannery somewhere in Belgium. This old tannery is a very big place with many buildings. It's a well known place in the urban exploration world. There's not much to see there, as almost all the buildings are empty, but the architecture of this place is very nice, making it an interesting exploration. The place is very dangerous as there is asbestos almost everywhere in it. Some rumours said it will be demolished soon, but from what I've seen during my last visit, I think they will be renovating the place instead of demolishing it, which would be a shame.

Centrale IM: Control room

Urban exploration of an abandoned powerplant somewhere in Belgium. This is another shot of the famous Centrale IM, a well known powerplant in the urbex community. There are two control rooms in this powerplant, this is the older one, a really magnificent place, very 50's looking. For those who have played the game falllout, it will make you think of it. Unfortunately, it has been heavily damaged by the copper thieves.

Depot SNCB

Abandoned train depot somewhere in Belgium. This was a very interesting place as there were a lot of old unused locomotives inside and outside the depot. Unfortunately, when I went back there to show the locomotives to a friend, they were all gone. The depot is in the process of being renovated and sold.

Filature Nouvelle-Orléans

Abandoned spinning mill somewhere in Belgium. An exploration I did a few years ago with my wife. It was a nice location though in a quite bad state. A lot of the buildings there were really damaged by the time, but the main building was very pleasant to explore.

Brasserie B

Abandoned brewery somewhere in Belgium. I found this old brewery while exploring an abandoned swimming pool. The brewery was located just next to the swimming pool. I wasn't really sure if it was really abandoned, though it looked like it was, because there were cars in the courtyard. I found a way in, and notice that it was not used as a brewery anymore but as a softair playground instead. I explored the building finding nothing interesting because it was in a really bad state, and just when I  decided I was going to leave, I found a beautiful room with some machines in it. Finally I left, happy that I could at least took some interesting pictures of it.

Usine Shelt: second visit

Abandoned steelwork factory somewhere in Belgium. I paid a second visit to this beautiful factory to show it to a friend. We had a lot of luck that day because the sun was shining an it created beautiful rays of light in the building. I don't really know why, but I like this place very much, maybe because of the quietness of the place.

PRB

Exploration of an abandoned ammunition factory. This is a nice urbex place, and really huge. The site is located in the woods and has a lot of buildings, though they're all in a quite bad state, the colors one can find there are wonderful. I only explored some of the buildings, and haven't looked futher in the woods, there might be some other beautiful decay deep there.

SCPA

Abandoned agricultural chemistry and physics laboratory. This place was in a quite good state when I visited it, though I think there are squatters living there. It was used as a research center in agronomy. There was also a doctor office with a waiting room (not sure if it's called like that in english).

You can view the complete set on my photography website.

Charbonnage du Hasard

Abandoned coal mine somewhere in Belgium. I've already posted a shot of the magnificient stairs of this coal mine, but I went there a second time to show the place to a friend, and just couldn't resist to take pictures again of this staircase. So here's another shot of it.

Usine Shelt

Abandoned factory somewhere in Belgium.

This is an old steelworks factory. There's not much left of it except a huge empty building. Even though it is empty, there is a very nice water basin which creates a lovely mirror in it. The vegetation is also very present and creates an interesting contrast with the building. A very quiet and wonderful place. !

Charbonnage du Hasard: stairs

Abandoned coal mine somewhere in Belgium.
I usually don't do much black and white pictures, not that I don't like it, but because I find it really hard to do a great b&w photograph, but I'm quite happy with how this one came out !
